When we hear people talk about their inner child, we may think it's some kind of silly new age concept. Yet, it's not.
We each have remnants and holdouts of our younger self within our own adult self. The child who was hurt, not loved enough, not accepted, not encouraged, perhaps made fun of, misunderstood, ignored... the list can go on and on. That is our inner child.
That child needs the love and acceptance of an adult. And now that we are adults, we are the person it needs love from the most. After all, we are the one who lives with our own inner critic who perhaps is still putting down, not only the adult that we are, but also the child that still resides in the utmost corners of our heart and our being.
