We may, at times, get caught up in trying to win an argument, or getting the upper hand on a decision that has to be made. At such times, we completely ignore what is for the highest good of all, and instead "stick to our guns" and want to be right at all costs.
And that is the problem right there: at all costs. The cost of winning an argument can be immense... loss of trust, loss of love, loss of joy, loss of connection, etc. etc. So instead we can choose to let go of control by stepping back, taking a deep breath, and listening to the other person.
This reminds me of the question: "Would I rather be right or happy?" This is a good question to remember when in the middle of any kind of controversy, whether at home, at work, in traffic, or anywhere.
